Dr. Mallikarjun Kalashetty is a senior clinician and leader in hematological malignancies, stem cell transplantation, and cellular therapy, with extensive experience translating advanced therapies from global research into real-world clinical practice in India.
He is trained in Internal Medicine, followed by subspecialty training in Clinical Hematology and Hemato-Oncology, and has built his career at the intersection of complex patient care and evolving immunotherapeutic innovation. His clinical expertise spans both benign and malignant hematological disorders, with a particular focus on bone marrow transplantation and CAR-T cell therapy.
Dr. Kalashetty completed his MD in General Medicine at JN Medical College, followed by a DM in Clinical Hematology and Hemato-Oncology from KEM Hospital and Seth GS Medical College, one of India’s premier tertiary academic centers. He subsequently served as faculty before undertaking an advanced Bone Marrow Transplantation Fellowship in Vancouver, Canada, gaining exposure to international standards of transplant and cellular therapy care.
He has been closely involved in implementing CAR-T therapy in India, navigating not only the clinical complexities, such as cytokine release syndrome, neurotoxicity, and prolonged immune suppression but also the broader challenges of access, affordability, infrastructure, and patient selection in a resource-diverse healthcare system.
